DP World powers Nhava Sheva terminals with green energy

DP World's Green Power Initiative Reduces Carbon Footprint at Nhava Sheva Terminals

DP World has introduced an open access green power initiative at its Nhava Sheva terminals, NSICT and NSIGT, marking a significant step towards sustainability. By sourcing 11 MW of green electricity from the state grid, the company is expected to replace up to 75% of conventional energy at NSICT and 80% at NSIGT. This transition is projected to cut CO2 emissions by 50%, underscoring DP World’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

Ravinder Johal, COO of Ports & Terminals, Operations and Commercial at DP World, highlighted the importance of this initiative in achieving the company’s sustainability goals. He noted that the integration of green energy at these terminals demonstrates their dedication to reducing their carbon footprint through resilient and eco-friendly infrastructure.

In addition to the green power initiative, DP World is advancing its sustainability efforts by transitioning its diesel-powered equipment to electric across its Indian terminals. This includes the commissioning of electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes and quay cranes, further contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.
