ASRY to Build Two Fuel Bunker Barges for Bapco Refining
The Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) has signed a deal to build two new fuel oil bunker barges for Bapco Refining. A special ceremony, called a keel laying, was recently held to start the construction. This event took place at ASRY’s yard in Hidd, Bahrain, with important people from both companies attending. Dr. Ahmed Al-Abri, CEO of ASRY, and representatives from Bapco Refining were there to celebrate this new project.
These barges are part of a bigger plan between ASRY and Bapco Refining. Their goal is to make Bahrain a key player in the maritime world. ASRY was chosen for this project because of its strong reputation for repairing and converting ships. They have years of experience and are seen as one of the best shipyards in the region. Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, CEO of Bapco Refining, said the skills at ASRY are perfect for completing this project. He also highlighted that the new barges will meet the latest international regulations, such as those from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Marpol, which focus on safety and protecting the environment.
