Cargo Vessel Guang Rong collides with Italian Pier
On January 28, the cargo vessel Guang Rong, measuring 104 meters and weighing 10,000 dwt, collided with the Pontile di Marina di Massa in Italy. The vessel was anchored offshore, carrying 9,000 tons of gravel when adverse weather conditions caused its anchor to drag. As a result, the Guang Rong drifted and struck the pier, leading to significant damage.
Incident Details and ResponseThe collision caused a partial collapse of the pier and inflicted hull damage on the *Guang Rong*, which developed a starboard list due to a hole in its hull. All 13 crew members aboard the vessel abandoned ship and were successfully rescued by the Italian Coast Guard. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among the crew.
