Nakilat Launches Construction of Six New Gas Carriers

Doha, Qatar: Qatar Gas Transport Company, known as Nakilat, has reached a significant milestone with the steel cutting ceremony for six new gas carriers at HD Hyundai Samho shipyard in South Korea. This event marks the beginning of Nakilat’s strategic fleet expansion, aimed at meeting the increasing demand for safe and efficient gas transportation worldwide. The construction includes two advanced LNG carriers and four modern LPG/ammonia carriers, set to be delivered between 2026 and 2027.
Details of the New Fleet Expansion
The steel cutting ceremony was attended by senior officials from Nakilat and HD Hyundai Samho, along with distinguished guests who celebrated this important development in maritime transportation. The new LNG carriers will each have a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters, while the LPG carriers will boast a capacity of 88,000 cubic meters each.
