Nortrans Secures Key Contract for Jansz-Io Project

Singapore’s Nortrans Offshore has landed a significant contract with Italian energy firm Saipem for the Jansz-Io compression project located off the coast of Western Australia. This partnership marks a pivotal moment for Nortrans as they deploy the Belait CSS 1, a 200-person flotel, under a long-term bareboat charter. Currently, the flotel is undergoing essential upgrades to ensure it meets the rigorous standards required for this major undertaking.
Project Details and Preparations
The Belait CSS 1 is set to play a crucial role in providing accommodation support for personnel involved in the hook-up operations of the Jansz-Io project. This project is part of the larger Gorgon initiative, which encompasses several gas fields and is vital for Chevron Australia’s operations. Saipem, which secured the transportation and installation contract for the Jansz-Io project in 2021, is gearing up for offshore operations expected to commence in 2024. The Constellation vessel will be utilized for these operations, further emphasizing the project’s scale and importance.
Saipem awarded an offshore EPC contract in Qatar worth approximately 4 billion USD
Nortrans is currently enhancing the flotel at Seatrium Admiralty Yard, ensuring it meets both industry standards and specific project requirements. These upgrades are essential for the successful execution of the project, as they will facilitate efficient personnel transfers and support operations in a challenging offshore environment. The collaboration between Nortrans and Saipem highlights the growing demand for specialized offshore services in the energy sector, particularly in regions rich in natural resources.
