Ningbo Ocean Shipping chairman resigns
Ningbo Ocean Shipping Leadership Shakeup

Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co (NBOSCO) is undergoing significant leadership changes as Zongquan Xu resigns from his position as chairman and director. His departure comes after four years at the helm of the Shanghai-listed subsidiary of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Group. Alongside Xu, general manager Xiaofeng Chen and deputy general manager Leijun Zhuang are also stepping down, citing “work adjustments.” The company assures that these changes will not disrupt its daily operations.
Leadership Changes and Company Impact
The recent resignations at NBOSCO include Zongquan Xu, who has played a pivotal role in the company’s operations since taking charge. His exit is part of a broader restructuring effort within the organization. Xiaofeng Chen, who has also applied to resign as general manager, will temporarily assume the role of interim chairman until a new permanent leader is appointed. Leijun Zhuang’s resignation as director and deputy general manager adds to the leadership transition, raising questions about the future direction of the company.

Despite these significant changes, NBOSCO has stated that the leadership shakeup will not adversely affect its daily operations. The company, which ranks 24th on Alphaliner with a fleet of 85 ships and 12 new vessels on order, remains focused on maintaining its operational stability. The timing of these resignations is noteworthy, occurring shortly after a tragic incident involving one of NBOSCO’s newly built boxships. The vessel was involved in a collision with a bulk carrier near Yangxiaomao Island, resulting in the death of one seafarer and injuries to three others. This incident may have heightened scrutiny on the company’s leadership and operational protocols.
As NBOSCO navigates this transitional period, stakeholders will be keenly observing how the new leadership will steer the company in the coming months.
