Inside the cruise ship that people will live on – and it’s cheaper than you
Revolutionary Cruise Ship Promises Unique Living Experience
Imagine waking up in a new city every few days, all from the comfort of your own home. This dream is becoming a reality for residents of the MV Narrative, a groundbreaking cruise ship designed to serve as a permanent residence for approximately 1,000 individuals. Currently under construction, this 741-foot vessel will offer a unique lifestyle, combining travel with community living, and is set to launch in early 2028.
A New Way to Live and Travel
The MV Narrative is not just a cruise ship; it is a floating community that aims to redefine the concept of home. Alister Lee, the founder and CEO of Storylines, emphasizes that the ship will feature the largest wellness center at sea, along with a longevity clinic and an anti-aging facility. “Our tagline is that you’ll live a happier, healthier life with Storylines,” Lee stated, highlighting the ship’s focus on well-being and community.
The ship’s accommodations range from cozy studios starting at $625,000 to luxurious four-bedroom homes priced at $8 million. Despite the hefty price tags, Storylines has already sold 35-40% of its residences, attracting a diverse group of future residents from around 20 different countries. Lee notes that the community will include individuals from various age groups, including young families, remote workers, and retirees. This blend of generations is intended to foster a vibrant and supportive living environment.
Residents will enjoy a lifestyle that is not only unique but also potentially more affordable than traditional living on land. Lee claims that couples can live onboard for under $100,000 annually, which includes all expenses. This model eliminates costs associated with car ownership and utility bills, allowing residents to embrace a luxurious lifestyle while exploring new destinations every few days.
Community and Amenities on Board
The MV Narrative is designed to be a hub of activity and social interaction. With around 20 bars and restaurants, residents will have ample dining options, and they will also have the opportunity to explore local cuisines during port stops every three to five days. Lee emphasizes the importance of community, stating that residents will have the chance to connect with locals and make friends in each new destination.

In addition to dining options, the ship will feature an art studio, an oceanside marina, and a running track. A unique addition that has garnered attention is a pickleball court, redesigned to fit on the sun deck after requests from U.S. residents. Families will also benefit from an onboard school, where children will learn from teachers and engage in field trips during port visits. Lee envisions that students will emerge from this experience with multilingual skills and a global network of friends.
So far, prospective residents have participated in community events organized by Storylines, where they have formed connections and friendships. Lee himself plans to be one of the first residents aboard the MV Narrative, expressing his excitement about living in what he believes will be the best lifestyle community on Earth. As the ship’s construction progresses, the anticipation for this innovative living experience continues to grow.
