Greta Shipping enters market with three Middle East – India Subcontinent loops

Greta Shipping Launches New Middle East Services

Greta Shipping, a new player in the shipping industry, is set to launch three dedicated services connecting the Middle East with the Indian Subcontinent. The Singapore-registered subsidiary of Chinese conglomerate Xiamen C&D will officially commence operations in mid-August, as reported by Alphaliner. This move aims to enhance shipping connectivity in the region, with a focus on key trade routes.

New Services and Strategic Partnerships

Greta Shipping’s flagship service, known as JKX, will establish a vital link between Jebel Ali, the Middle East’s primary transshipment hub, and Karachi, Pakistan’s leading port. The service will kick off with the maiden voyage of the 2,444 TEU vessel, Hui Fa, scheduled to depart from Jebel Ali on August 15. Notably, industry giant Hapag-Lloyd has confirmed its participation by co-loading on this route, highlighting the strategic collaboration between the two companies.

In addition to the JKX service, Greta Shipping is expanding its operations in the UAE–Western India corridor with two additional services: JIX1 and JIX2. Both services will utilize slot agreements with Hapag-Lloyd to optimize their operations. The JIX1 service is set to begin on August 11, operating on the Jebel Ali – Nhava Sheva – Jebel Ali route, which is part of Hapag-Lloyd’s existing IG1 loop that connects the Gulf, Pakistan, and India.

Meanwhile, the JIX2 service will launch on August 13, allowing Greta Shipping to take advantage of Hapag-Lloyd’s KWF service, which will now extend to include Kandla on India’s western coast. This strategic expansion not only enhances Greta Shipping’s service offerings but also strengthens the overall shipping network in the region, providing more options for businesses engaged in international trade.
