Luda partners with top Chinese shipbuilders for ammonia-fuelled vessel

Luda Technology Group has forged a strategic alliance with leading Chinese shipbuilders to advance the production of specialty-material flanges and pipe fittings for ammonia-fueled vessels. This collaboration marks a significant step in the Chinese shipbuilding industry’s efforts to achieve supply chain independence and innovate essential components. The partnership includes major players such as China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), Haiting (Nantong) Shipbuilding Company, and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Company.
Innovative Solutions for Ammonia-Fueled Vessels
Under the terms of the partnership, Luda Taian Industrial Company, a subsidiary of Luda Technology Group, will provide certified products for a range of high-value ships, including LNG carriers, ultra-large container ships, chemical tankers, and luxury cruise ships. The initiative aims to address the unique challenges posed by ammonia fuel, which is known for its corrosiveness and risks of hydrogen embrittlement.
Sun Yanru, the R&D director at Luda Taian, emphasized the need for revolutionary components in green-powered vessels. He stated, “We must plan ahead, work with leading partners on joint R&D, and co-define the technical standards for next-generation products in order to take the initiative in global competition.” The partnership will also establish joint technical R&D teams focused on innovation in new materials, processing techniques, and digital supply chain management.
Luda Taian is currently testing ammonia-resistant materials, including high-nickel alloys and specialized stainless steels. The company is also developing appropriate welding and heat treatment processes to ensure the durability and performance of these materials. Their advanced laboratories and testing centers will conduct comprehensive performance evaluations and life-cycle assessments to ensure compliance with stringent international standards.
Transforming Shipbuilding through Collaboration
Luda Technology’s CEO, Ma Biu, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, stating, “This in-depth partnership with China’s ‘national team’ and leading enterprises in shipbuilding marks a critical step in Luda Technology’s transformation from a component manufacturer to a ‘technology solution provider’.” He reiterated the commitment to increasing investment in R&D to ensure that all products meet the highest international standards.
The partnership aims to redefine the technical standards for next-generation green vessels, thereby enhancing the global standing of Chinese manufacturing in the high-end marine equipment sector. By working together, these companies are poised to lead the charge in creating a more sustainable and innovative future for the shipbuilding industry.
