DOF Secures $200M Petrobras Contracts in Brazil

Norwegian offshore vessel operator DOF has secured two significant long-term contracts with Petrobras, Brazil’s state-owned oil company. The agreements involve the deployment of the Skandi Chieftain and Skandi Olympia vessels, both of which are set to operate under a four-year contract valued at approximately $200 million. This strategic move strengthens DOF’s presence in the Brazilian offshore market.

Details of the Contracts

The contracts for the Skandi Chieftain, launched in 2005, and the Skandi Olympia, which entered service in 2009, will commence in October 2026. Each vessel will be equipped with a work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to support Petrobras’s offshore operations. Currently, both vessels are engaged in a separate three-year contract with Petrobras, showcasing their ongoing significance in the company’s operational framework.

DOF’s success in securing these contracts follows a competitive tender process, similar to the one that previously awarded contracts to other vessels such as the Skandi Achiever, Skandi Carla, Geoholm, and Skandi Salvador. This consistent performance in bidding reflects DOF’s strategic capabilities and commitment to meeting the demands of the offshore oil and gas industry. The new contracts not only bolster DOF’s portfolio but also reinforce Petrobras’s reliance on experienced operators for its critical offshore projects.
