G E Shipping Sells Jag Pooja, Adjusts Fleet Strategy

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) has announced the sale of its Medium Range Product Tanker, Jag Pooja, built in 2005. The vessel, with a deadweight tonnage of approximately 48,539, will be delivered to an unaffiliated third party by the third quarter of FY26. This sale is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to manage its fleet in response to market conditions.

Current Fleet Composition

Following the sale of Jag Pooja, G E Shipping will maintain a robust fleet of 40 vessels. This fleet includes a diverse range of 26 tankers, which consists of five crude tankers, 17 product tankers, and four LPG carriers. Additionally, the company operates 14 dry bulk carriers, categorized into two Capesize, ten Kamsarmax, and two Supramax vessels. The total deadweight tonnage of the fleet is an impressive 3.21 million tonnes, showcasing the company’s significant presence in the shipping industry. The decision to sell Jag Pooja reflects G E Shipping’s commitment to optimizing its operations and aligning its assets with current market demands.

Planned Fleet Changes

In conjunction with the sale of Jag Pooja, G E Shipping has outlined further changes to its fleet. The company has contracted to acquire a secondhand Suezmax crude tanker while also planning to sell another secondhand Suezmax crude tanker in the second quarter of FY26. These transactions are expected to be finalized by the third quarter of FY26, indicating G E Shipping’s proactive approach to fleet management. By adjusting its fleet composition, the company aims to enhance operational efficiency and adapt to evolving market conditions.
