Canfornav Expands Global Reach with Hong Kong Office

Canfornav, a Montreal-based ship operator, is taking significant steps to enhance its global footprint by opening a new office in Hong Kong. Founded in 1976, the company has evolved from a lumber trade specialist to a prominent player in the international dry bulk shipping sector. With plans to expand its fleet and strengthen its presence in Asia, Canfornav aims to better serve its clients and forge new partnerships.

Strategic Expansion in Asia

Canfornav’s new office in Hong Kong represents a pivotal move in its strategy to tap into the growing Asian market. The company, which currently operates a fleet of 30 bulk carriers suited for the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River, is set to enhance its capabilities by adding 25 Japanese-built handy size bulkers in the coming years. This expansion will not only increase its operational capacity but also improve service delivery to clients in the Far East.

Knud Baek Jensen, president and CEO of Canfornav, expressed enthusiasm about the new office, stating, “This new expansion marks our 49th year of operation. We are very pleased to open this new office which will be operated by Christoph Held. With Montréal, Limassol, and now Hong Kong, we cover strategic hubs for our routes.” This statement underscores the company’s commitment to establishing a robust network of operations that can efficiently connect with 900 ports worldwide.

The Hong Kong office is expected to play a crucial role in developing partnerships and enhancing customer relations in the region. As Canfornav continues to grow, its focus on strategic locations will likely position it favorably in the competitive landscape of international shipping.
