Marlow Navigation Partners with Green Marine for Fuel Transition

Marlow Navigation has announced a strategic partnership with Green Marine to aid its clients in transitioning from conventional fuels to alternative options. This collaboration builds on a successful two-year relationship focused on training and knowledge exchange, particularly in low flash point fuels. As a result, Marlow Navigation has become a fully accredited provider of IGF courses in the Philippines, enhancing crew qualifications for the evolving maritime industry.

Strengthening Training and Expertise

The partnership with Green Marine, a leader in the methanol-as-marine fuel sector, aims to provide comprehensive support for ship owners and crews. Green Marine will offer consulting, training, and advice on the design and safe handling of methanol-fuelled engines, with plans to expand into LNG, Ethanol, and Ammonia in the future. This collaboration leverages Green Marine’s extensive engineering background and experience with alternative fuel projects worldwide, ensuring that Marlow Navigation remains at the forefront of industry developments.

With Green Marine’s assistance, Marlow Navigation will enhance its training offerings, providing both face-to-face and simulator training on alternative fuels in the Philippines and soon in Europe. The partnership will utilize Green Marine’s resources in the Far East, including Singapore and China, and develop blended learning courses that incorporate live online classrooms. This global approach aims to deliver effective learning solutions tailored to the needs of maritime professionals.

Joern Clodius, General Manager of Marlow Navigation, emphasized the importance of training in their service offerings. He stated, “The cooperation agreement with Green Marine provides us with access to expertise on alternative fuels, enhancing our ability to deliver customized solutions to our customers.” Clodius also highlighted the necessity of preparing crews for future fuel options, noting that the industry must adapt to various fuels and their specific training requirements, moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach.

Commitment to Decarbonization

Fredrik Stubner, CEO of Green Marine, expressed the company’s mission to bridge the gap between conventional operations and the future of clean fuels. He stated, “This partnership allows us to expand our global network of maritime professionals and apply our extensive experience in methanol and low-flashpoint fuels to train a new generation of seafarers.” By integrating best practices from real-world projects into impactful training, Green Marine aims to accelerate the safe adoption of alternative fuels, enhance operational readiness, and contribute to the decarbonization of the shipping industry.
