HD Hyundai Secures Major Container Ship Deal
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has announced a significant contract with Regional Container Line, a prominent global shipping company, to construct two state-of-the-art container ships. Valued at 435.3 billion Korean won, this agreement marks the first collaboration between the two companies, setting the stage for potential future partnerships. The new vessels are expected to enhance Regional Container Line’s operational capacity, which currently ranks 21st worldwide.
Details of the New Container Ships
The contract includes the construction of two 13,800 TEU-class container ships, each measuring 337 meters in length, 51 meters in width, and 27.3 meters in height. These vessels will be equipped with advanced scrubbers, designed to reduce exhaust emissions and promote environmental sustainability. The ships will be built at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ shipyard in Ulsan, with delivery scheduled to occur sequentially by October 2028.
