The company is actively implementing business investments aligned with its objectives, focusing on key areas of materiality: Safety, Environment, and Human Resources. With the plan set to conclude in 2026, NYK Group aims to unify its growth strategy, pushing initiatives that contribute to a sustainable society.

Sustainability Management Initiatives

NYK Group has launched a series of initiatives under its sustainability management framework. In the realm of safety, the company has begun a new mooring trial using the DynaMoor system and is enhancing its NAV9000 safety standard to ensure operational excellence. These enhancements are part of an ongoing commitment to safety in maritime operations.

Environmentally, NYK Group has made significant strides, recently operating the world’s first ammonia-fueled tugboat. This groundbreaking vessel has completed a three-month demonstration voyage, showcasing innovation in eco-friendly shipping practices. NYK Group has also received recognition from CDP as one of the world’s top green businesses for the sixth consecutive year. Investments in offshore wind collaboration with Northern Offshore Group AB and the successful ship-to-ship transfer of 23,000 tons of liquefied ammonia further highlight the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint.

On the human resources front, NYK Group has made history by promoting a woman to the position of Chief Engineer for the first time. This move, along with the company’s recognition for diversity and inclusion efforts, underscores a commitment to fostering a diverse workplace.

This terminal will feature Europe’s first fully automated multilevel parking system for finished vehicles at the Port of Zeebrugge, Belgium.
