Urgent Airlift: RSAF Rescues Cruise Passenger

A passenger aboard a cruise ship required immediate medical assistance and was airlifted by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) on December 26. The individual was transported to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and is currently reported to be conscious and in stable condition. The RSAF confirmed the successful operation in a Facebook post, highlighting the rapid response of their rescue team.

Successful Rescue Operation

The RSAF deployed a Rescue 10 H225M Medium Lift Helicopter for the urgent airlift. The operation took place at sea, where the helicopter hovered over the cruise ship’s helipad to facilitate the transfer. Medical personnel were on standby, ready with a stretcher to ensure the passenger received prompt care upon landing.

In their Facebook update, the RSAF expressed their well wishes for the passenger’s recovery and commended the dedication of their crew and healthcare workers, who are always prepared to respond to emergencies. A series of photos shared by the RSAF captured the helicopter in action, showcasing the critical moments of the rescue.

Double missions to bulk carriers

The RSAF operates a 24/7 search-and-rescue team known as Rescue 10, specifically designed to assist individuals at sea who require immediate medical attention. This incident is not isolated; on November 9, 2024, the same unit successfully airlifted a sick crew member from a bulk carrier located approximately 111 kilometers off the coast of Singapore, demonstrating the RSAF’s commitment to maritime safety and emergency response.
