Solstad Offshore Secures Extended Contract with Petrobras for Normand Turquesa

Solstad Offshore has successfully negotiated revised terms with Petrobras for its anchor handling tug supply vessel, Normand Turquesa. This agreement extends the vessel’s current operations and delays the commencement of a previously announced long-term charter. The Norwegian offshore company confirmed that the existing contract for the 2007-built AHTS has been extended by one year, ensuring continued service for Petrobras until January 2031.

The new arrangement pushes back the start date of the four-year contract, initially set to begin in the first quarter of 2026, to the first quarter of 2027. This adjustment adds approximately $15.4 million to the gross contract value, bringing the total gross value of the contracts to around $100 million. The extension reflects Solstad’s ongoing commitment to supporting Petrobras in its offshore operations.

Details of the Contractual Changes

The revised agreement comes after Solstad Offshore first disclosed the four-year Petrobras award in July 2025. At that time, the company announced that the deal for Normand Turquesa had been secured through a competitive tender process earlier in the year, pending board approval. The initial charter was valued at approximately $84 million and was expected to commence in February 2026.

With the new terms in place, the Normand Turquesa will remain under contract with Petrobras for an extended period, solidifying its role in the company’s offshore activities. The vessel’s operational capabilities and reliability have made it a valuable asset for Petrobras, contributing to the efficiency of their offshore projects.

This extension not only enhances Solstad’s revenue stream but also reinforces its strategic partnership with Petrobras, a key player in the global oil and gas industry. The agreement highlights the importance of long-term contracts in the offshore sector, where stability and reliability are crucial for both service providers and clients.

Solstad Offshore lands $65m in new vessel contracts

As the offshore industry continues to evolve, Solstad Offshore’s proactive approach in securing and extending contracts positions the company favorably for future opportunities in the market. The Normand Turquesa’s extended service underscores the vessel’s significance in meeting the demands of Petrobras and maintaining operational continuity in offshore operations.
