Fincantieri Secures Major Cruise Ship Order
Fincantieri has announced a significant new order from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. for the construction of three next-generation cruise ships. This deal, which underscores the strong partnership between the two companies, is considered crucial for Fincantieri’s long-term cruise portfolio. The vessels will be built at Fincantieri’s Italian shipyards, with deliveries scheduled between 2036 and 2037, and will incorporate advanced technology and sustainability features.
Details of the New Cruise Ships
The new order includes three vessels designed for Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Each ship will be a sister vessel to the latest newbuilds delivered by Fincantieri for these brands, ensuring design and construction continuity across the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings fleet. The largest of the three will be for Norwegian Cruise Line, boasting a gross tonnage of approximately 227,000 tons and a capacity for over 5,000 passengers. This ship aims to enhance the brand’s reputation for large-scale contemporary cruising, featuring state-of-the-art comfort and onboard technology.
For Regent Seven Seas Cruises, the newbuild will have a gross tonnage of 77,000 tons and accommodate around 822 guests, emphasizing the ultra-luxury segment with a high space-to-guest ratio. Meanwhile, the Oceania Cruises vessel will be slightly larger, with a gross tonnage of 86,000 tons and approximately 1,390 berths, aligning with the brand’s focus on refined, destination-immersive itineraries and upscale onboard design. All three ships will reflect a commitment to environmental sustainability, showcasing both companies’ dedication to responsible growth.
