Disney’s Animal Kingdom Unveils Exciting New Attractions

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is set to transform with the introduction of a new land, Tropical Americas, which will feature three thrilling rides inspired by beloved Disney stories. Scheduled to open in 2027, this ambitious project marks a significant shift for the park, replacing the former DinoLand, U.S.A. As construction progresses, early signs of the new attractions are beginning to take shape, promising an exciting future for visitors.

Tropical Americas: A New Adventure Awaits

The upcoming Tropical Americas land will showcase a fictional village named Pueblo Esperanza, replacing the recently closed DinoLand, U.S.A. This area will feature a family-friendly ride based on Disney’s Encanto, where guests will experience the magic of the Madrigals’ casita. The ride will immerse visitors in the story of Antonio, the young boy who gains the ability to communicate with animals. Although details about the ride system remain under wraps, it is expected to follow the style of modern Fantasyland dark rides.

In addition to the Encanto attraction, an Indiana Jones ride is set to repurpose the existing DINOSAUR ride system. This new experience will take guests on an adventure through an ancient temple, adding another layer of excitement to the park. A carousel featuring Disney animal characters will also be part of the new land, enhancing the family-friendly atmosphere of Tropical Americas.

As construction continues, the new area is expected to significantly expand the footprint of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, incorporating elements from previously unused backstage areas. While the official opening date is still pending, anticipation is building among fans and visitors alike.

Construction Progress and Future Plans

As of late February 2026, the construction site for Tropical Americas is buzzing with activity. With DinoLand, U.S.A. now fully closed, the layout for the new attractions is becoming clearer. Upon entering Pueblo Esperanza, guests will find a vibrant town square, with the carousel positioned to the left. Visitors can choose to explore the Encanto ride or head to a dining location that will utilize the existing Restaurantosaurus facilities.

Ever heard of the Maritime Continent? It’s not far from Australia – and channels heat around the world

The Encanto ride has recently reached a significant milestone, with construction crews completing the initial phases of the building. The structure will feature a themed entrance that replicates the Madrigals’ casita, seamlessly blending into the surrounding environment with trees and themed elements. This attention to detail is a hallmark of Disney’s Imagineering process, ensuring that the attraction will be visually stunning.

Meanwhile, the Indiana Jones ride is making swift progress, with much of the infrastructure already in place. As the transformation of the former DINOSAUR ride continues, Disney is also preparing for the carousel’s installation, which will add to the charm of the new land.

With multiple large-scale projects underway across Walt Disney World, including Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and new attractions at Magic Kingdom, the excitement for Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Tropical Americas is palpable. As the park gears up for its 2027 opening, fans can look forward to a fresh and immersive experience that celebrates the magic of Disney storytelling.
