HD Korea Secures $568 Million Order for Container Ships

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has announced a significant contract for the construction of 10 container ships, valued at approximately $568.1 million. The deal, signed with an Asia-based shipping company, marks a notable achievement for the company as it continues to expand its portfolio. The vessels are set to be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and are expected to be delivered by the second half of 2028.

Growing Order Book and Strategic Focus

With this latest order, HD Korea Shipbuilding has now secured a total of 43 vessels worth $5.34 billion this year, achieving 22.9% of its annual target of $23.31 billion. The company’s diverse order book includes 10 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 20 container ships, 5 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, 6 crude oil carriers, and 2 petrochemical product carriers. This variety highlights the company’s strategic focus on high-value vessels that cater to evolving market demands.

HD Korea Secures Major Shipbuilding Contract

Earlier this month, HD Korea also announced a contract for two LPG carriers with a European shipowner, valued at 340.2 billion won. These vessels will be constructed by HD Hyundai Samho and are also scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2028. The company’s commitment to building advanced vessels aligns with industry trends, particularly the anticipated rise in demand for crude oil carriers due to geopolitical factors, such as the situation in Iran.

As HD Korea Shipbuilding continues to secure substantial orders, industry observers remain optimistic about the company’s growth trajectory and its ability to meet the increasing global demand for specialized shipping solutions.
