Baku Shipyard Partners with Kazakhstan for New Vessels
Baku Shipyard LLC has entered into a significant partnership with KTZ Express Shipping, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan’s Samruk-Kazyna JSC, to enhance shipbuilding capabilities. The agreement, signed on May 4, outlines plans for constructing two modern dry cargo vessels that meet international standards. This collaboration is poised to strengthen both Azerbaijan’s shipbuilding industry and Kazakhstan’s maritime infrastructure.
Strategic Collaboration for Shipbuilding Growth
The partnership between Baku Shipyard and KTZ Express Shipping marks a pivotal moment in the shipbuilding sector. Shahin Babayev, Executive Director of AZCON Holding, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating that it aligns with their strategic goal of expanding international partnerships. He highlighted that this project not only showcases the technological advancements of Azerbaijan’s shipbuilding capabilities but also serves as a crucial step in the industry’s development.
Babayev expressed optimism about the future, stating, “We believe this cooperation will establish a solid foundation for successful new projects in the future.” The agreement is expected to enhance the shipyard’s production capacity and improve its competitiveness on a global scale. As the demand for cargo transportation continues to rise, this partnership is set to play a vital role in meeting those needs.
Enhancing Kazakhstan’s Maritime Infrastructure
Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, underscored the significance of developing maritime infrastructure as part of Kazakhstan’s broader strategy to boost its transit potential. He noted that establishing a dedicated fleet for “Kazakhstan Temir Jolu” JSC (KTJ) is essential for reinforcing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). This initiative aims to expand cargo transportation capacity and foster international collaborations.
The partnership is particularly timely, given the increasing cargo volumes along the Middle Corridor. By investing in shipbuilding, both countries aim to accelerate the growth of their respective industries. With this latest agreement, Baku Shipyard has now built a total of four vessels based on international orders, further solidifying its reputation as a reliable partner in the global market.
