Hengli Engine Tapped as Sole Supplier for Yangzhou Dingheng’s 10-Vessel Main Engine Tender
China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Yangzhou Dingheng Shipyard recently announced the selection of Hengli Engine (Dalian) Co., Ltd. as the supplier for six 49,400 DWT (EPS design) and four 49,900 DWT (PMD design) main engines. Hengli Engine was the sole supplier invited to bid for these ten marine main engines. This decision marks a significant milestone for Hengli Engine, a relatively new player in the industry, as it continues to reshape the domestic marine engine supply chain.
Rapid Growth and Industry Impact
Hengli Engine (Dalian) Co., Ltd. was established in July 2022 as a subsidiary of Hengli Heavy Industries Group. In a relatively short period, the company has made remarkable progress. In July 2023, Hengli Engine signed a patent licensing agreement with MAN Energy Solutions, now known as Everllence, officially launching its engine manufacturing operations. By the end of the year, the company obtained quality management system certification from the China Classification Society, marking its official entry into the marine engine manufacturing market.
Innovative Achievements and Future Prospects
In March 2024, Hengli Engine began production of its first engine, with the in-house manufactured crankshaft achieving “inspection-free” status. In September of the same year, the company successfully delivered its first engine, overcoming bottlenecks in shipbuilding processes. In October 2025, Hengli Engine delivered its first LPG dual-fuel engine, showcasing its commitment to innovation and advanced technology.
In April 2026, the company achieved a significant milestone by delivering the first domestically produced 8G95 LNG dual-fuel engine. This engine, model 8G95ME-C10.5-GI-EcoEGR, stands as the most powerful high-pressure natural gas dual-fuel engine produced in China to date. With an annual production capacity of 180 marine engines, Hengli Engine offers a comprehensive portfolio of low-carbon and zero-carbon dual-fuel engines, with production orders already scheduled through 2030.
