PAL Indonesia, BRIN partner to advance green shipyard transformation

Surabaya, E Java – PT PAL Indonesia, a state-owned shipbuilder, and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) have joined forces to expedite the advancement of green shipyards and fortify Indonesia’s shipbuilding sector. The collaboration aims to enhance applied research capabilities, hasten technological expertise, and facilitate PT PAL’s transition to a more environmentally friendly, efficient, and globally competitive shipyard.

Strengthening Indonesia’s Shipbuilding Industry

President Director of PT PAL Indonesia, Kaharuddin Djenod, emphasized that the partnership signifies BRIN’s dedication to bolstering the national research ecosystem in support of the shipbuilding industry’s transformation. This endeavor aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to foster cooperation among industry players, research institutions, and universities to reinforce Indonesia’s shipbuilding industry’s autonomy.

PT PAL and BRIN are gearing up for collaborative initiatives encompassing applied research, maritime technology advancement, research outcome commercialization, and workforce development. Deputy Head of BRIN, Amarulla Octavian, commended PT PAL as a pivotal national industry contributing significantly to Indonesia’s maritime ecosystem. BRIN stands prepared to collaborate with PT PAL to propel the country’s shipbuilding sector through technological innovation and industrial metamorphosis.
