COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Delivers Second 64,000 DWT Bulker to COSCO SHIPPING Development

On August 5, a naming and delivery ceremony was held by COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) for the “Feng Shun Hai,” the second 64,000 DWT bulk carrier built for COSCO SHIPPING Development.

Efficient Progress and Optimized Design

Following the delivery of the first vessel in the series, the “Feng Da Hai,” on July 7, the “Feng Shun Hai” has also been successfully delivered. This milestone marks the continued efficient progress of the collaboration between the two parties on the 64,000 DWT bulk carrier series project.

The “Feng Shun Hai” boasts an overall length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, and a design draft of 11.3 meters. It incorporates the latest design from the COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Design and Research Institute. Leveraging experience gained from the construction of the lead vessel, the project team optimized the equipment commissioning process. As a result, the vessel’s measured speed and fuel consumption figures surpassed contractual requirements.

Successful Launch and Sea Trials

Since entering the outfitting phase on April 20, the project team has utilized their experience from constructing the lead vessel to optimize design and construction processes. The “Feng Shun Hai” was successfully launched on June 15 and commenced sea trials on July 21. By July 23, it efficiently completed all trial objectives. Key technical indicators such as speed, fuel consumption, vibration and noise levels, and maneuverability met or exceeded regulatory requirements.

The successful delivery of the “Feng Shun Hai” showcases COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan)’s expertise in serial batch construction and lean management of bulk carriers. It also lays a solid foundation for strengthening collaborative ties with COSCO SHIPPING Development.

Conclusion

The delivery of the “Feng Shun Hai” marks another milestone in the partnership between COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) and COSCO SHIPPING Development. With a focus on efficiency and optimized design, the successful completion of this second bulk carrier demonstrates the capabilities of both parties in delivering high-quality vessels for the maritime industry.
