SDHI targets to hire 550 people for white-collar and blue-collar roles by March
New Delhi: Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) revealed its ambitious goal of hiring over 550 new employees by March 2027, across a range of white-collar and blue-collar positions. The company made this announcement on Tuesday, emphasizing its focus on bolstering its workforce to enhance operations in new build, repair, and refit projects.
Strengthening Teams and Specialized Trades
In a recent statement, SDHI highlighted its efforts to reinforce its teams in various departments, including project management, design, supply chain management, heavy fabrication, and civil works. The shipyard is also ramping up recruitment for specialized skilled trades such as precision welding, fitting, and pipework. This strategic move aims to enhance the company’s capabilities and efficiency in delivering high-quality maritime projects.
Creating Employment Opportunities
Apart from expanding its own workforce, SDHI disclosed that the ongoing projects at the shipyard are expected to generate approximately 5,000 jobs over the next two to three years. These opportunities will be created through collaborations with vendor and supply chain partners, contributing to the growth of the maritime industry ecosystem.
SWAVALAMBAN Training Initiative
Last year, SDHI launched SWAVALAMBAN, a comprehensive training program supported by the government and academia. This initiative focuses on developing a skilled and self-reliant domestic maritime workforce by integrating sourcing, pre-onboarding, technical induction, mentorship, and shop floor deployment into a seamless talent development journey.
