Guohang Ocean Shipping to Build Three Multi-Purpose Heavy-Lift Vessels
Guohang Ocean Shipping, a prominent player in the maritime industry, recently unveiled its draft prospectus for a targeted issuance of shares in 2026. The company aims to raise funds not exceeding RMB 700 million (around US$104 million) from specific investors. These funds will be utilized for ship acquisition projects and bolstering working capital, with proposed investments of RMB 680 million and RMB 20 million, respectively.
Major Investment in Vessel Acquisition Project
The cornerstone of Guohang Ocean Shipping’s strategy is a substantial investment in a vessel acquisition project worth approximately RMB 2.49 billion (equivalent to about US$372 million). This ambitious project involves the construction of three 62,000-deadweight-tonne (DWT) multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels and three 115,000-DWT LR2 oil tankers. These vessels are designed to enhance the company’s fleet structure and increase its owned vessel capacity significantly.
Focus on Sustainable and Efficient Vessels
Guohang Ocean Shipping is committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility with its planned acquisition of low-carbon, eco-friendly vessels. These vessels boast streamlined hulls, lightweight designs, high-efficiency propulsion systems, and integrated energy-saving features. They offer superior energy efficiency and lower pollutant emissions compared to older vessels, along with smart navigation and real-time energy monitoring capabilities to ensure compliance with international environmental standards.
Moreover, the acquisition of multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels and LR2 oil tankers will bridge operational gaps within Guohang Ocean Shipping’s fleet structure. The heavy-lift vessels will cater to specialized heavy-cargo transport needs, while the LR2 tankers will strengthen the company’s position in liquid energy transport, expanding its cargo portfolio and enhancing cross-border oil transport capabilities.
Guohang Ocean Shipping, a key player in dry bulk shipping, operates across international deep-sea, domestic coastal, and middle-to-lower Yangtze River routes. With a fleet of 22 self-owned dry bulk vessels totaling 1.7074 million DWT, the company is a significant player in China’s dry bulk shipping sector.
In conclusion, Guohang Ocean Shipping’s strategic investment in sustainable vessels and expansion of its fleet underscore its commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship in the maritime industry.
