Accelleron’s MXP300 Turbocharger Gains Approval for Daihatsu Infinearth’s 6DE18 Diesel Generator
Accelleron’s MXP300 turbocharger has received qualification for installation on the widely used 6DE18 diesel generator, manufactured by the Japanese engine company Daihatsu Infinearth. This approval follows the earlier certification of the MXP300 for Daihatsu’s dual fuel engine, the 6DE20DF, in 2024, marking a significant milestone as the first endorsement from a Japanese engine builder. The acceptance of the MXP300 turbocharger is anticipated to enhance its global adoption, particularly in the marine sector.
Innovative Design for Easy Maintenance
The MXP300 turbocharger is specifically engineered for auxiliary marine engines, featuring a robust and straightforward design that supports a self-service, condition-based maintenance model. This innovative approach allows crew members to perform maintenance checks on the turbocharger without the need for specialized tools or taking the vessel out of service. A dedicated app facilitates this process, enabling crew to monitor and maintain the turbocharger at their convenience.
This focus on serviceability translates to significant reductions in lifecycle costs while adhering to the stringent performance and quality standards set by Daihatsu Infinearth. For operators who prefer traditional maintenance methods, Accelleron offers support through its established network, ensuring flexibility to accommodate various customer preferences.
Market Impact and Future Prospects
Daihatsu Infinearth produces over 400 units of the 6DE18 engine annually, which is extensively utilized in bulk carriers constructed at shipyards worldwide. The approval of the MXP300 turbocharger positions Accelleron to capitalize on the growing demand within this sector. Prior to the 6DE18’s approval, the MXP300 had already been certified for use with Daihatsu’s dual fuel/LNG engine, the 6DE20DF, in 2024.
Benoit Viel, Accelleron’s Global Head of Sales and Marketing for Medium & Low Speed, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “Japan is one of the world’s key shipbuilding markets for bulk carriers. We are delighted that our collaboration with Daihatsu Infinearth means that more operators in this segment will now benefit from the reduced lifecycle costs achieved by Accelleron’s service-friendly concept for auxiliary engines.” This partnership is expected to drive further adoption of the MXP300 turbocharger, enhancing operational efficiency for marine operators globally.
