Anglo-Eastern Launches LNG/Ammonia Bunkering Station skid

Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) in Karjat, Mumbai, has unveiled a state-of-the-art LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and ammonia bunkering station skid. This facility, introduced during the Anglo-Eastern 2025 Mumbai Conference in February, aims to enhance maritime training by providing hands-on experience in the safe fueling of alternative marine fuels. The initiative underscores the company’s commitment to advancing safety standards and environmental sustainability in the maritime industry.

Innovative Training for Future Maritime Professionals

The newly established bunkering station skid is designed to offer practical training in LNG and ammonia transfer operations. Equipped with advanced cryogenic fueling technology and safety systems, the facility replicates real-world bunkering scenarios, allowing trainees to engage in emergency response procedures and regulatory compliance training. This hands-on approach is crucial as the maritime industry shifts towards sustainable fuel options.

Alexander Saverys, CEO of CMB.TECH, inaugurated the facility on February 20, emphasizing the importance of industry collaboration in preparing for a future focused on net-zero emissions by 2050. He remarked on the necessity for more companies to invest in such initiatives to cultivate a skilled workforce capable of navigating the evolving landscape of maritime fuels.

Capt. Aalok Sharma, Group Director of Training at Anglo-Eastern, expressed enthusiasm about the new facility, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce this LNG/Ammonia bunkering station skid as part of our commitment to shaping the future of maritime fuel safety and efficiency.” He highlighted the growing demand for well-trained professionals as the industry transitions to alternative fuels.

The training program not only benefits seafarers but also equips shore-based stakeholders with the knowledge needed to support their onboard teams effectively. This comprehensive training approach ensures that all personnel involved in LNG and ammonia operations are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.

Commitment to Sustainability and Safety

Anglo-Eastern’s investment in the bunkering station skid reflects its dedication to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing operational safety within the maritime sector. The company is committed to fostering innovation and environmental responsibility through its training initiatives.

In addition to the bunkering station, Anglo-Eastern also inaugurated a new ME GI Training facility at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Centre (AEMTC) in Mumbai. This facility focuses on Mk 2 ME GI engines, providing course participants with essential knowledge about engine operations, maintenance procedures, and safe operation protocols. This development further strengthens Anglo-Eastern’s partnership with MAN Energy Solutions, which dates back to 2003.

Through these advancements, Anglo-Eastern continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of maritime training, ensuring that industry professionals are equipped with the skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly sustainable maritime environment.
