Celebrating 20 Years of Gateway Terminals India: A Story of Success and Growth

Gateway Terminals India (GTI), also called APM Terminals Mumbai, is celebrating 20 years of service in India. Over these two decades, GTI has become one of the country’s most efficient, safe, and reliable terminals. Jonathan R. Goldner, APM Terminals’ Chief Executive for Asia and the Middle East, shared this during a celebration event held in Mumbai.

The event was attended by important guests, including Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, Chairman of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Nabil Taouati, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Shri Rajiv Jalota, Chairman of the Indian Port Association. Goldner, speaking on behalf of A.P. Moller – Maersk, expressed the pride the company feels for being part of Mumbai’s growing logistics story.

Goldner said that running a terminal in India comes with a huge responsibility, but APM Terminals takes this very seriously. He emphasized that the entire company feels “humbled and grateful” to be a key part of Mumbai’s logistics network. Goldner also praised GTI for its positive impact on local communities, mentioning that the terminal plays an important role in supporting jobs and regional development.

A New Record at GTI

August was a special month for GTI. In its 20th anniversary year, the terminal set a new record by handling 192,139 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in just one month. This is the largest volume of containers ever handled at the terminal in such a short time. This huge amount of cargo was processed in only 47 ship visits, with each ship transferring an average of 4,088 containers.

This record shows the great planning and hard work of the team at GTI. It is proof of their unmatched productivity, focus on safety, and dedication to getting the job done right. The achievement is also a sign of the terminal’s commitment to excellence and reliability.

Looking Ahead

APM Terminals Mumbai is set to continue its journey of being India’s top terminal operator. With a focus on efficiency, safety, and community support, GTI will keep playing a vital role in India’s growth and success in the global logistics industry.

As it moves into the future, GTI remains committed to breaking records and setting new standards for the port and terminal industry. It aims to continue its journey of delivering world-class services while positively impacting the lives of the people in the communities it serves.
