Arcadia Shipmanagement Places Seven Tanker Newbuildings at Two Chinese Shipyards

Arcadia Shipmanagement, a prominent Greek shipping company led by Panagiotis and George Angelopoulos, is making significant strides in expanding its tanker orderbook by focusing its shipbuilding investments on the Aframax/LR2 tanker segment. The company has recently placed orders at Chinese shipyards, marking a strategic shift in its construction projects.

Orders for 3 New Vessels from Hengli Heavy Industries

The latest development includes Arcadia Shipmanagement’s order for three 114,000 DWT LR2 oil tankers from Hengli Heavy Industries. These new vessels are expected to be delivered by 2028, adding to the company’s growing fleet. This order at Hengli Heavy Industries follows Arcadia’s earlier contract with HD Hyundai Samho for two 157,000 DWT Suezmax tankers, scheduled for delivery by May 31, 2029, at a unit price of approximately $89 million.

Expansion at Dalian Shipbuilding

In addition to the recent orders, Arcadia Shipmanagement has further bolstered its fleet with four 115,000 DWT Aframax oil tankers under construction at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation. The delivery of these vessels is slated for 2026 and 2027, showcasing the company’s commitment to enhancing its capabilities in the maritime industry.

The decision to diversify its shipbuilding partnerships and engage with Chinese shipyards highlights Arcadia’s strategic approach to leverage technical advantages and expand its global presence. With a total of nine newbuilds in progress, including Aframax/LR2 and Suezmax oil tankers, Arcadia Shipmanagement continues to solidify its position as a key player in the international shipping market.

This latest development underscores the company’s commitment to innovation, growth, and excellence in the maritime sector. As Arcadia Shipmanagement navigates the dynamic landscape of the shipping industry, its strategic investments and forward-thinking approach position it for continued success in the years to come.
