Archer and SLB Secure Major Gulf of Mexico Contract

Norwegian offshore service provider Archer, in partnership with SLB, has been awarded a significant contract for integrated plug and abandonment (P&A) services for the Titan platform in the Gulf of Mexico. This collaborative venture encompasses various service offerings, including project management, well engineering, and advanced downhole technologies, aimed at the P&A of three wells. The partnership underscores the strengths of both companies in the deepwater sector.

Key Features of the Contract

The contract awarded to Archer and SLB involves a comprehensive set of services designed to ensure the effective plug and abandonment of three wells at the Titan platform. This includes not only project management and well engineering but also the provision of a compact workover rig, coiled tubing, and wireline services. The collaboration highlights SLB’s established leadership in deepwater operations, combined with Archer’s specialized expertise in P&A services.

Dag Skindlo, CEO of Archer, expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting that it builds on the company’s recent successes in securing large P&A contracts in the North Sea. “This integrated deepwater P&A project builds on our momentum following several large P&A contract awards in the North Sea in 2025,” Skindlo stated, emphasizing the significance of this new contract in the company’s portfolio.

In addition to this recent award, Archer was also granted a contract last week from Equinor for the P&A of 30 subsea wells, valued at up to $140 million. This contract spans three years and includes options for two additional two-year extensions. Notably, approximately 50% of the contract’s value will come from services provided by Archer’s alliance partners, showcasing the collaborative nature of their operations in the offshore sector.
