USACE Awards Dredging Contracts in Louisiana and Hawaii

On September 15, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced the awarding of three significant contracts for dredging and vessel maintenance projects in Louisiana and Hawaii. The contracts, which involve multiple contractors, are set to enhance navigational channels and maintain vital infrastructure over the next year. The selected companies include Muddy Water Dredging, Weeks Marine, Pacific Shipyards International, and Manson Construction.

Details of the Contracts

Muddy Water Dredging LP, based in Orange, Texas, received an $18.4 million firm-fixed-price contract for maintenance dredging of the Calcasieu River and Pass in Louisiana. This project, which has a cumulative value of $23.4 million, will take place in Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes. The expected completion date is October 31, 2026. The contract was awarded after six bids were submitted online, and it will be managed by the Corps’ New Orleans District using fiscal 2025 civil construction funds.

Weeks Marine, located in Covington, Louisiana, has been awarded a $21.2 million firm-fixed-price contract for cutterhead dredging services in Morgan City, Louisiana. This contract was competitively bid online, with three offers received. The work is scheduled for completion by December 24, 2025, and the total cumulative face value of the contract is $38.8 million. Similar to the previous contract, fiscal 2025 civil construction funds were obligated at the time of the award.

Additional Contracts and Modifications

Pacific Shipyards International LLC, based in Honolulu, Hawaii, secured an $8.8 million contract for the overhaul of the Corps’ dredge vessel Essayons. This firm-fixed-price award was based on three bids received via the internet, with work expected to be completed by February 20, 2026. The Portland District is overseeing this project, and fiscal 2025 operation and maintenance funds were fully obligated at the time of the award.

Lastly, Manson Construction Co. received an $8.1 million contract modification for dredging activities in the Atchafalaya Basin and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, among other areas near Morgan City, Louisiana. The total face value of this contract now stands at $8.1 million, with work scheduled for completion by January 4, 2026. The New Orleans District is the contracting authority for this project, utilizing fiscal 2025 civil operation and maintenance funds at the time of the award.
