This refurbishment took place at the “Zığ” Ship Repair and Construction Plant, as reported by Azernews. The overhaul was executed efficiently and with high standards, ensuring the vessel is ready for its operational duties.
The maintenance work encompassed both the underwater and above-water sections of the tanker. Key components of the engine room were serviced, and the main deck underwent thorough cleaning and painting. Additionally, essential repairs were made to various valves, and woodwork enhancements were carried out to improve the vessel’s overall functionality and aesthetics.
Modernization and Upgrades Enhance Operational Efficiency
In addition to routine maintenance, the Koroğlu tanker received several upgrades aimed at modernizing its systems and improving crew comfort. The overhaul included hull welding and electrical installation works, which are crucial for maintaining the vessel’s structural integrity and operational efficiency. Furthermore, the crew’s living and service quarters were modernized to meet contemporary standards, ensuring a more comfortable environment for those on board.
Following the completion of these extensive repairs and upgrades, the Koroğlu tanker has returned to service. Its first voyage post-overhaul is set for Kiyanlı port in Turkmenistan. The vessel measures 149.9 meters in length and 17.3 meters in width, allowing it to navigate efficiently while carrying a substantial cargo capacity of 13,000 tons. With a cruising speed of 12 knots, the Koroğlu is well-equipped to meet the demands of maritime transport in the region.
This successful overhaul not only highlights ASCO’s commitment to maintaining high operational standards but also reflects the ongoing investment in the maritime sector within Azerbaijan. The timely completion of the Koroğlu’s repairs ensures that it can continue to serve its vital role in regional shipping and trade.
