ASRY appoints Ahmed AlAbri as the new CEO

Dr. Ahmed AlAbri has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY), with his tenure beginning in August 2024.

Dr. AlAbri brings over 25 years of experience in the maritime industry, having held various executive positions with reputable firms in the region.

He holds a PhD in Operational and Environmental Management of Shipyards & Ports from the University of Portsmouth, UK, along with a master’s degree in Maritime Engineering Sciences and a bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture from the University of Southampton, UK.

Aymen bin Tawfeeq AlMoayed, Chairman of ASRY’s Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Dr. AlAbri’s leadership, noting his extensive experience and knowledge of the regional maritime industry. AlMoayed emphasized that Dr. AlAbri’s expertise will be instrumental in advancing ASRY’s modernization efforts and achieving the company’s strategic goals for sustainable growth.
