Atlantica PSV fixed to Shell

Shell Secures Long-Term Charter for Skandi Caledonia

Atlantica Shipping, based in Oslo, has successfully secured a long-term contract for its platform supply vessel, the Skandi Caledonia, in the waters of the UK. Shell will lease the 2003-built vessel for a minimum duration of one year, with options to extend the agreement further. This contract marks a significant move for both companies, enhancing Shell’s operational capabilities in the region.

Details of the Contract

The Skandi Caledonia, which Atlantica acquired in 2023 from DOF, is scheduled to commence its charter in May. DOF will continue to manage the vessel during its time under Shell’s contract. This strategic partnership is part of Shell’s ongoing efforts to bolster its supply chain and operational efficiency in the UK sector.

In addition to the Skandi Caledonia, Shell UK also secured a similar agreement earlier this year for another platform supply vessel, the 2009-built Edda Frende. These contracts signify Shell’s commitment to enhancing its fleet and ensuring reliable support for its offshore activities. The long-term arrangements are expected to provide stability in operations and improve logistics in the extraction and supply of energy resources.

As the energy industry continues to evolve, such partnerships are crucial for maintaining operational effectiveness and meeting increasing demands for energy production. With these contracts, both Shell and Atlantica Shipping are poised to make significant contributions to the energy sector in the coming years.
