First Owned Vessel of BAO-NYK Joint Venture Completes Maiden Voyage

BAO-NYK Shipping Pte. Ltd. (BAO-NYK), a joint venture between NYK Group and an affiliate of China Baowu Steel Group Corporation, marked a significant milestone with the maiden voyage of its new flagship, “BNS Dongshan.” On August 16, a ceremony was held to commemorate the vessel’s first call at the port of Zhanjiang, China, where it arrived with iron ore shipped from a project in Western Australia involving Baowu Resources Co., Ltd.

The event was attended by key representatives from both companies, including Nobuki Kurosaka from the NYK Group, as well as senior leaders from Baowu Resources, such as Shi Bing, Cao Zhifu, and Zhu Xuebin. This marks a major achievement for BAO-NYK, reflecting the strong partnership between NYK and the Baowu Group.

Founded in 2011, BAO-NYK initially focused on transporting cargo for the Baowu Group, later relocating to Singapore in 2013. As the company celebrates its 13th anniversary, this first shipment aboard its owned vessel symbolizes the growing trust and collaboration between the two organizations. BAO-NYK remains committed to providing stable natural resource transportation, further strengthening its relationship with the Baowu Group.
