Birdon Announces United States Coast Guard Extension of Motor Lifeboat (MLB) Contract

Birdon America Secures Contract Extension for U.S. Coast Guard Lifeboat Upgrades

Birdon America, Inc. announced that the United States Coast Guard has extended their contract, allowing the company to continue its Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) for 47′ Motor Lifeboats (MLBs). This extension, granted on July 25, 2024, covers Order Years 6-10 and permits the overhaul of up to 72 additional lifeboats.

This decision reflects the Coast Guard’s trust in Birdon’s capability as a key contractor. Birdon has already delivered nineteen upgraded MLBs, with another nineteen currently being worked on, ensuring that these vital rescue vessels remain operational through 2047.
