Blue Lighting for World Maritime Day
The Bahamas Lights Up Landmarks for World Maritime Day, Promoting a Safer Future for Shipping
The Bahamas is celebrating #WorldMaritimeDay by lighting up important landmarks in blue, just like many other countries do every year. This special event helps raise awareness about the important role of shipping in making sure our future is both safe and sustainable.
For the first time, the Bahamas Maritime Authority’s Nassau office and the Manx Corporate Centre, home of The Bahamas Ministry of Energy and Transport, are glowing in blue lights. This is done to show the country’s support for the theme of this year’s World Maritime Day: “Navigating the Future: Safety First!”

The event shows how serious The Bahamas is about supporting the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which helps keep the seas safe for everyone. Many other countries are also lighting up their landmarks to honor the importance of shipping and how it connects the world.
Shipping plays a big part in moving goods and people safely around the world, making sure that trade continues smoothly. It is also a key part of making the world’s future greener and more sustainable.
Through this celebration, The Bahamas hopes to remind everyone of the need to keep working towards safer and more secure shipping. By taking part in the World Maritime Day activities, The Bahamas joins other countries in showing how much they care about protecting lives at sea and building a better world through safe shipping practices.
