Body of Missing Louisiana Man Found After Boating Accident
Authorities have confirmed the recovery of Gregory S. “Shane” Kile, a 45-year-old man from Deville, Louisiana, whose body was discovered on Monday, April 20, following a search that began late Saturday night. Kile was reported missing after a boating incident on the Red River near Pineville. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is leading the investigation into this tragic event.
Search Efforts and Discovery of the Body
The search for Kile commenced around 11:30 PM on Saturday, April 18, after he was reported missing. The LDWF, in collaboration with the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Pineville Fire Department, Alexandria Fire Department, and Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, launched an extensive search operation. After more than 24 hours of searching, Kile’s body was recovered from the river around 8:00 AM on Monday. The body has been handed over to the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office for an official cause of death determination.
Initial reports indicate that Kile was one of three boaters who set out from the Buhlow Recreational Landing around 9:00 PM on the night of the incident. Survivors of the accident reported that shortly after launching, their boat struck a rock jetty, leading to the vessel capsizing and sinking. While two of the boaters managed to swim to safety and call for help, Kile did not survive. Notably, none of the occupants were wearing personal flotation devices at the time of the incident. The LDWF Enforcement Division is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this fatal boating accident.
