Borealis Maritime Sells Four PSV in Strategic Move

In a significant development in the maritime industry, UK-based Borealis Maritime has successfully sold four of its platform supply vessels. The transaction, led by Christoph Toepfer, involves the 2013-built vessels: Aurora Pearl, Aurora Diamond, Aurora Emerald, and Aurora Sapphire, with the sale price remaining undisclosed. Notably, the Aurora Pearl has been acquired by Grupo TMM in Mexico, while the other three vessels were sold to Nigerian interests in a collective deal.

Details of the Sale

All four vessels were originally constructed by Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania for World Wide Supply. This sale marks a notable shift for Borealis Maritime, which established its Offshore Support Vessel (OSV) unit, Aurora Offshore, in 2021. Aurora Offshore is headquartered in Norway and is responsible for the commercial and technical management of various vessels, including Platform Supply Vessels (PSV), Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS), and Offshore Construction Vessels (OCV) on behalf of Borealis and third-party owners, such as Siem Offshore and Capital Offshore from Greece.

This transaction is part of Borealis Maritime’s broader strategy to optimize its fleet and operations. Recently, the company has been active in the containership segment as well, having sold its 2009-built 4,563 TEU vessel Debussy to French shipping giant CMA CGM for approximately $31 million. These moves reflect Borealis’ commitment to adapting its portfolio in response to the dynamic maritime market.
