Bureau Veritas Marine and Offshore makes key leadership appointments

Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore has made significant leadership appointments in key maritime hubs to enhance operational excellence, sustainability, and people development. The newly formed operational areas, based in London, Athens, and Shanghai, will drive the company’s LEAP | 28 strategy, strengthening its presence in critical regions.

David Barrow has been appointed Senior Vice President for Western Europe and the Americas, operating out of London. With over 35 years in the maritime sector, his experience spans business development and innovation management. Paillette Palaiologou, now leading the Eastern Europe, Mediterranean, Middle East, India, and Africa region from Athens, brings 30 years of technical expertise as a naval architect and marine engineer, along with a track record of securing major projects and clients.

Appointments to Wärtsilä’s Board of Management

In Shanghai, Alex Gregg-Smith will oversee the Asia Pacific region, uniting the North Asia and South-East Asia Pacific Zones. With more than three decades of experience in senior ship management and shipbuilding roles, Alex is well-equipped to lead in this strategically important area. Additionally, Lilli Chi has been named Vice President for BV’s South East Asia Pacific Zone, highlighting the importance of Singapore as a shipping hub.

At the Paris head office, new roles have been established to further support BV’s global initiatives. Pierre de Chateau Thierry, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, provides global commercial leadership, while Suba Sivandran, appointed as Director of Strategy, Sustainability, and Advanced Services, leads the Future Shipping Team, focusing on advancing sustainable practices within the maritime industry.
