Cadeler locks in $245m charter for newest turbine
Cadeler Secures Major Contract for New Wind Vessel

Cadeler, a Denmark-based leader in offshore wind services, has received its new jackup vessel, Wind Keeper, ahead of schedule. The company has also signed a significant long-term contract with turbine manufacturer Vestas, valued at €210 million ($245 million), which will commence in early 2026. This deal includes potential extensions, bringing the total possible value to over €380 million.
Strategic Acquisition and Future Plans
Earlier this year, Cadeler acquired the Wind Keeper from China’s Shanghai Boqiang Heavy Industry Group, a move supported by the BW Group and Scorpio. This newly delivered vessel will play a critical role in both the transport and installation (T&I) and operations and maintenance (O&M) of Vestas’ offshore wind projects across Europe. The contract is a testament to the increasing demand for versatile and high-performance vessels in the offshore wind sector.

Before Wind Keeper officially enters service, it will undergo necessary upgrades in Europe to meet Cadeler’s operational standards. These enhancements will include seafastening for Vestas’ V236-15.0 MW turbines, as well as modifications tailored for 15 MW-class installations. Cadeler’s CEO, Mikkel Gleerup, emphasized the strategic importance of this contract, stating that it aligns with the company’s vision to address the rising demand in Europe for flexible vessels capable of supporting both O&M and installation tasks.
Cadeler operates a fleet of eight vessels, with an additional four newbuilds under construction. The company is positioning itself to be at the forefront of offshore wind operations, capitalizing on the growing market for renewable energy solutions.
