Carnival Venezia Sets Sail from Port Canaveral

Carnival's Fun Italian Style Cruise Ship Arrives at New Homeport

Carnival Venezia, the latest addition to Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet, has officially made its debut at Port Canaveral, Florida. After a successful year and a half of offering Italian-style cruises from New York, the ship has now repositioned to this popular cruise port. This move marks a significant milestone for both Carnival and Port Canaveral, as it becomes the first port to host five Carnival ships simultaneously. The Venezia will provide seasonal sailings through May 2025, offering travelers a unique blend of Italian flair and Carnival’s signature fun.

A Warm Welcome to Port Canaveral

On Wednesday, Carnival Venezia arrived at Port Canaveral, greeted with enthusiasm by local officials and cruise enthusiasts alike. Capt. John Murray, CEO of Port Canaveral, expressed his excitement about the ship’s arrival. He highlighted the long-standing partnership between Carnival and the port, which has lasted nearly 35 years. Murray stated, “Our new fiscal year is taking off in grand style with the arrival of Carnival Venezia, which represents the 16th cruise ship to home port at Port Canaveral – the most in our history.”

The addition of Carnival Venezia brings the total number of Carnival ships at Port Canaveral to five. The other vessels include Carnival Vista, Carnival Glory, Carnival Freedom, and Mardi Gras. This achievement underscores the growing popularity of Port Canaveral as a cruise destination. With Carnival Venezia now part of the lineup, the port is set to enhance its reputation as a premier cruise hub in Florida.

Unique Offerings and Itineraries

Carnival Venezia is not just another cruise ship; it is a Venice-themed vessel that promises a unique cruising experience. Originally launched by Costa Cruises, the ship has been rebranded to fit Carnival’s style while retaining its Italian charm. The Venezia is part of the Vista-class, making it one of the largest ships in the fleet, with a gross tonnage of approximately 135,000.

Currently, the ship is on its inaugural four-day sailing to the Bahamas. From now until May 2025, Carnival Venezia will offer a variety of itineraries, including 7-day and 14-day cruises to the Eastern, Western, and Southern Caribbean. This diverse range of options is designed to cater to the preferences of different travelers. Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, emphasized the ship’s appeal, stating, “Our Venice-themed ship adds another truly dynamic offering, with a fresh Italian twist on our signature Carnival fun.”

As Carnival Venezia prepares to welcome guests, it promises to deliver an enriching experience that combines Carnival’s renowned hospitality with the elegance of Italian culture. After its seasonal sailings in Florida, the ship will reposition back to New York on May 11, 2025, for an 11-day one-way journey, ensuring that it continues to serve a broad audience of cruise enthusiasts.
