CCS and MAN ES( MAN Engine Solutions) Held a High- Level Meeting

CCS and MAN ES Strengthen Partnership for a Safer and Greener Future

CCS and MAN ES Work Together for Safer, Greener Ships

Zhao Yan, the vice president of China Classification Society (CCS), recently led a team to Copenhagen, Denmark, for an important meeting with MAN Engine Solutions (MAN ES). This meeting was very important for both groups, showing how they’ve built a long-lasting and stable partnership over time.

Celebrating CCS’s Success

At the meeting, Zhao Yan happily shared great news—CCS’s fleet has now surpassed 200 million Gross Tonnage (GT). This is a huge milestone and shows how hard CCS has worked to stay true to its mission of keeping ships safe and strong. Zhao also expressed CCS’s strong commitment to keep moving forward and growing in the future.

Focus on Safety and Decarbonization

One of the main topics Zhao Yan and MAN ES vice president, Susanne Kindt, discussed was how to deepen their cooperation in two key areas: safety and decarbonization. These are both critical goals for the future of the maritime industry. Zhao Yan said, “CCS is ready to keep working closely with MAN ES in the future, aiming to build a stronger and better partnership.”

New Agreement on Decarbonization and Digitalization

The two companies also signed the 4th sub-agreement under their Strategic Framework Agreement, which was originally signed in 2023 in Beijing, China. This new agreement focuses on decarbonization (reducing harmful carbon emissions) and digitalization (using technology to improve systems). These efforts are part of the global push to make shipping more environmentally friendly and efficient.

Cyber Security Achievement for MAN ES Engines

During the meeting, CCS also gave MAN ES a special Cyber Security certificate. This certificate is for MAN ES’s Engine Control Systems (ECS), making sure they are safe from cyber attacks. MAN ES’s Cyber Security & Safety Manager, Svend Krogsgaard, said, “We are very happy to receive this certificate. It shows how hard everyone has worked.”

CCS is the first member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) to issue a certificate like this. It covers the IACS UR-E27 Cyber Security requirements, ensuring that all MAN ES two-stroke engines have strong cyber protection built into their control systems.
