On April 17, 2026, the Central Port Authority of Lavrio received an urgent notification from the captain of the ferry Champion Jet 1. The ship was making an emergency approach to Lavrio due to a serious injury sustained by a 32-year-old crew member. This incident occurred while the ferry was operating a scheduled route that included stops at the ports of Paros, Mykonos, Tinos, Andros, and Rafina. The crew member suffered a leg injury caused by a rope during the departure maneuver from Andros, necessitating immediate medical attention.
Upon arriving at Lavrio, emergency medical services were on standby. The injured crew member was swiftly transported by ambulance to the Hellenic Red Cross Hospital for treatment.
