ClassNK grants its first software security certifications for Solverminds’ ship management solutions

ClassNK Awards First Software Security Certifications

Tokyo – ClassNK has awarded its first software security certifications to the ship management solution “MACK,” developed by SVM Solutions and Technologies Pte. Ltd. (Solverminds).

ClassNK’s “Cyber Security Approach”*1 outlines its strategy to ensure onboard cyber security for ships. To support the “Development of shipboard products with reduced cyber risks” mentioned in this approach, ClassNK has issued the “Guidelines for Software Security,”*2 created in collaboration with its partner TÜV Rheinland. These guidelines recommend security measures throughout the development, integration, and operation stages of shipboard software, and ClassNK conducts third-party certification based on these guidelines.

“MACK” is a comprehensive digital ship management solution that supports a data-driven decision-making system. ClassNK has verified the development process and functionality of the “MACK Web Application,” “MACK Audit Mobile Application,” and “MACK Notification Mobile Application” based on the guidelines. After confirming compliance with the prescribed requirements, ClassNK issued certificates for these three applications.
