ClassNK releases report “ClassNK Alternative Fuels Insight (Version 2.0)”
Providing demand outlook for alternative fuels and cost simulation example for ammonia fueled ship
ClassNK has released Version 2.0 of its “Alternative Fuels Insight” report, initially launched in May 2024. The updated report provides the latest insights into alternative fuel ships, including details on orders, deliveries, and demand outlooks. It also features cost simulations for ammonia-fueled ships, aiding stakeholders in making informed decisions about future fuel options and investments.
The report emphasizes the importance of understanding not only the technical aspects of alternative fuels but also trends such as cost and supply availability. This comprehensive approach ensures that shipowners and operators can make appropriate fuel selections in a rapidly evolving market.
In the latest update, the report includes demand estimates for alternative fuels, particularly focusing on ammonia-fueled ships expected to see increased orders. Additionally, it covers green methane production projects for LNG-fueled ships, GHG emissions assessments of biofuels, and the growing adoption of onboard carbon capture systems (CCS). The report also provides insights into Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) ratings, offering detailed results by ship type and size.
ClassNK plans to continue updating the “Alternative Fuels Insight” report to reflect the latest trends and regulations in the international shipping industry, supporting a smooth transition to zero-emission operations for its clients.
