Container Ship Disabled in Bosporus, Towed to Safety

On February 27, the container ship Oyster, measuring 136 meters in length, experienced engine failure while navigating the Bosporus Strait near Kandilli, Turkey. The vessel, which was en route from Ambarli to Novorossiysk, became disabled and was unable to restart its engines. Authorities were alerted, and assistance was promptly dispatched to ensure the safety of the ship and its crew.

Emergency Response Initiated

Following the distress signal from the *Oyster*, the Turkish Coast Guard, known as KEGM, quickly mobilized to provide assistance. Two tugboats, *Kurtarma 7* and *Kurtarma 12*, were dispatched to the scene to help the stranded vessel. The swift response from the authorities highlights the importance of maritime safety protocols in the busy Bosporus Strait, a critical waterway for international shipping.

The tugboats successfully reached the *Oyster* and took it under tow. This operation was crucial in preventing any potential hazards that could arise from the ship being adrift in such a heavily trafficked area. The cooperation between the tugboats and the Coast Guard ensured that the situation was managed effectively and without incident.
