Damen Delivers Shoalbuster 3209 to Caspian Offshore Construction

Damen Delivers New Vessel to Caspian Offshore

Damen Shipyards Group has recently delivered a new Shoalbuster vessel, the SBu 3209, to Caspian Offshore Construction. Named the Caspian Lotus, this vessel is set to enhance the company’s already impressive fleet of over 50 vessels and barges. The Caspian Lotus will primarily support dredging projects in the Persian Gulf. With its shallow draught of just 3.3 meters, 80 square meters of deck space, significant crane capacity, and powerful propulsion, the vessel is well-equipped for its operational tasks.

A Strong Partnership

Caspian Offshore Construction has maintained a long-standing relationship with Damen Shipyards. Their collaboration began in 2006 when the company received its first Damen vessel, a Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 1605. Since then, Caspian Offshore has expanded its fleet with several Damen vessels, including Multi Cats (MuC) and additional FCS models, both new and second-hand. In the past five years alone, the company has ordered various vessels, such as the Stan Tug (STu) 1606, SBu 3815, MuC 2611, MuC 3313 Shallow Draught, and an FCS 4008.

This ongoing partnership highlights the trust and reliability that Caspian Offshore Construction places in Damen’s offerings. The vessels are tailored to meet the specific operational needs of the company, making them a preferred choice. The successful delivery of the Caspian Lotus is a testament to the strength of this partnership, as it continues to evolve and adapt to the demands of the maritime industry.

Efficient Delivery and Proven Performance

One of the key reasons Caspian Offshore Construction opts for Damen vessels is the shipbuilder’s efficient delivery process. Damen’s strategy of building vessels in series for stock allows for rapid delivery times. The contract for the Caspian Lotus was signed in August, just a few months before the vessel’s delivery. This quick turnaround is crucial for companies operating in fast-paced environments like the Persian Gulf.

Caspian Offshore Construction has been active in the Caspian Sea region for years and expanded its operations to the Middle East three years ago. The company has successfully established a fleet of 14 vessels and barges in this region. Aleksey Chirkin, General Manager for Caspian Offshore Construction Middle East DMCC, emphasized the importance of their partnership with Damen. He noted that the high quality of Damen’s vessels and their after-sale services have significantly contributed to the company’s success in the Middle East. Currently, 50% of their regional fleet consists of Damen vessels, providing them with a competitive edge in the market.

Marc Tijssen, Damen’s Regional Sales Manager, expressed his satisfaction with the delivery of the Caspian Lotus. He highlighted the advantages of Damen’s philosophy, which not only ensures fast delivery but also provides clients with reliable and proven vessels. Both companies look forward to continued collaboration, anticipating new opportunities in the future.
