Diana Shipping Secures Long-Term Charters for Two Vessels
Diana Shipping, a prominent Greek bulker owner, has successfully locked in two significant time charter contracts, extending its revenue coverage into 2027. The New York-listed company announced a direct continuation for its capesize vessel, Semirio, and a new charter for the panamax vessel, Maera, both of which promise to enhance the company’s financial outlook.
Details of the New Contracts
The first contract involves the 2007-built capesize vessel Semirio, which will continue its partnership with Solebay Shipping. This new agreement is set to commence in March 2026 and will run until April 2027. Under the terms of the deal, the daily charter rate will increase to $21,650, a notable rise from the current rate of $16,650. This extension not only secures a steady income stream but also reflects the growing demand for capesize vessels in the shipping market.
In a separate agreement, Diana Shipping has fixed its 2013-built panamax vessel Maera to Singapore-based CRC Shipping. This charter is scheduled to begin in November 2025 and will last for a minimum of 13 months. The daily rate for Maera will rise to $11,750, up from its existing rate of $8,400 with China Resource Chartering. This increase demonstrates the company’s ability to negotiate favorable terms in a competitive market.
Combined, these two contracts are projected to generate approximately $10.9 million in gross revenue over their minimum terms. Diana Shipping currently operates a fleet of 36 vessels, which includes eight capesizes and five panamaxes. The company has also recently secured a lucrative fixture with SwissMarine for one of its capesize vessels, achieving a daily rate significantly higher than its previous employment.
